Well……this is going to be an interesting answer. I am a true believer that good skincare exists in the grocery store, online and at your local MedSpa. But you need to understand what is in your skincare and how to use your skincare.
Types of skincare: essentially there are 3 types of skincare. This is a generic statement, but it’s true.
1. Medical Grade/Prescription- this is skincare that is purchased from a healthcare provider. For example, At Higher Self Aesthetics, we sell Alastin Skincare. It has all the bells and whistles that you can ask for. There are some chemical components but the results that are achieved are very noticeable. We provide prescription skincare for some of our patients too.
2. Organic- this is the skincare that ensures little to no chemicals in their products. With this said, sometimes these products do not give you the results that you are looking for. That is why it is important to know which brands work. One benefit of these products is the lower probability of an allergic response. For example, at Higher Self Aesthetics, we sell Dr Alkaitis Organic Skincare. I have personally used this line for over 8 years.
3. Over the counter/online- there are two product lines that I absolutely love that can be purchased this way. Mad Hippie Skincare and Mary Kay Cosmetics. These can be purchased at local retailers, online, or with your local Mary Kay Rep. These companies carry many products that give great results at a reasonable price.
What is the moral of the story……read your ingredients. Make sure that you understand what the ingredients provide for your skin. Some chemical components will give you the results that your skin needs. Make sure that the company is a reputable company. Finally, USE YOUR SKINCARE. Purchasing skincare does not do any justice if it is not being used.
